WSNSW  OUR 40TH ANNIVERSARY RECITAL, 23 MAY 2021

Richard King was a foundation member of the Society and President from 1985 to 1990, and is an Honorary Life Member. As key speaker at the event, Richard reminded the audience of the founding events of the Wagner Society in NSW and described his introduction to classical music as a boy and his early interest in the Esoteric, Theosophy and Eurhythmics.

Dutch National Opera’s podcast ‘Soft Valkyrie’ episodes 1 and 2

Wagner’s Die Walküre with a twist. That’s David Kanaga’s Soft Valkyrie. The American composer and game designer presents Wagner’s monumental opera in its entirety in an electronic version. The leading roles are performed by singers from widely differing disciplines, including a rapper, a death metal singer and a Wagner legend. None other than Stephen Fry narrates Wagner’s very own extensive stage directions. Close your eyes, listen and let your imagination do the rest.

Sopranos Iréne Theorin and Annette Dasch team up with Tomasz Konieczny and tenor Magnus Vigilius for a concert dedicated to the music of Wagner. The showcase, which will be conducted by Adam Fischer, will include excerpts from “Tristan und Isolde,” “Lohengrin,” and “Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg.”
