ABOUT THE DISCUSSION

A discussion of the Brisbane Ring led by Warwick Fyfe, THE Alberich of the production. Warwick will give us an insight into the production followed by a conversation with the President, concluding with questions from the membership attending. Given that Warwick also sang all the Wotans in Bendigo earlier in 2023, this will be a unique opportunity to obtain an insider’s view of what was a great year of Wagner in Australia.

ABOUT WARWICK FYFE

Bass-baritone Warwick Fyfe is a Helpmann Award-winning opera singer and Churchill Fellow

, Wagner Society in NSW member and Sponsorship recipient, and

one of Australia’s most highly respected singers and exponents of the Wagnerian repertoire.

Background

Born in Canberra, Australia, Warwick is an alumnus of the Victoria College of Arts (Melbourne University), the Canberra School of Music.

ABOUT THE DVD

 

 

Filmed live in concert on 29 September 1973 with Birgit Nilsson and Sir Charles Mackerras with the SSO performing excerpts from Götterdämmerung – Siegfried’s Rhine Journey, Siegfried’s Funeral March, Brünnhilde’s Immolation Scene.

This was planned for 17 September 2023 but couldn’t be shown due to equipment malfunction.
