The composer Engelbert Humperdinck worked with Richard Wagner, famously writing a few extra bars for Parsifal until the stage machinery could be fitted in with Wagner’s original score. Otherwise, he is remembered chiefly for his popular children’s opera Hänsel und Gretel which is performed every Christmas in Germany and beyond (although possibly not live this year). So it was decided to make the theme Engelbert Humperdinck and his version of the fairy tale.
